Basaksehir FK new acquisition

Josef de Souza Dias, is back to Turkish football, to Istanbul once again, this time to Basaksehir FK.

The Brazilian midfielder has signed for 1,5 years with the Istanbul side.

In the last season Josef was a member of Chinese Super League team Beijing Guoan with 20 caps, 02 assists, 04 goals (spent 1585 minutes on the pitch).

Before the Chinese club, from summer 2020 till the winter 2023 he wore Besiktas JK shirt, played on high level (total stats: 88 games, 04 assists, 09 goals), became the captain of the team, won with them three trophies which are Super Lig title (2020-21), Turkish Cup (2020-21) and Turkish Super Cup (2021-22).

Also in Turkey, from 2015 to 2018 he performed with big success for Fenerbahce SK (total: 136 games, 16 assists, 06 goals). 

Among the above mentioned Beijing Guoan, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, the 34 year old defensive midfielder played also for: Al-Ahli Jeddah, Vasco da Gama, FC Porto, São Paolo FC and Gremio.

With Vasco da Gama he has one trophy, Brazililan Serie B (2008-09).

With FC Porto he won five trophies, Portuguese  League Title (2010-11 and 2011-12), Domestic Cup (2011), Super Cup (2012). 

The UEFA Europe League title that he won with the Portuguese giants in 2010-11 is definitely the biggest success in his career.

For Brazilian national team Josef debuted on October 2014 (friendly game vs Japan 4:0). 

In total for famous "Seleção" he achieved 03 caps. For Brazil U20 youth squad, Josef has 05 caps.

His new team, Basaksehir FK’s current league table position is 13th, with 19 points gained from 17 games played.
